Join Our Team as a Modern Apprentice in Healthcare! NHS Lanarkshire are delighted to announce that we have a vacancy within Lanarkshire for a Modern Apprenticeship - Social Services and Healthcare - Health Care Assistant (Acute). Key Details: Locations: This post will be based in ward 5 at University Hospital Hairmyers. Duration: Fixed term post for 12 months starting from the 20 th of January 2026. Part-time hours available with pro-rata salary. Eligibility: Applicants should be aged 16 to 24 years old on 1 st of December 2025, ( or up to 29 years for applicants who have a disability or those with care experience ) are eligible. Must demonstrate proficiency at SCQF Level 5/National 5 level. More information can be found in the job pack attached to this advert. What We Offer: Training: Gain invaluable on-the-job training to develop a diverse range of healthcare procedures and skills. Qualification: Work towards achieving a Level 6 SCQF Qualification in Social Services and Healthcare with South Lanarkshire College, leading to a nationally recognised qualification. Support : You will be well supported on this Modern Apprenticeship Programme with a dedicated workplace buddy, a Job Coach from the in-house Employability Team and regular networking sessions with other apprentices. What We're Looking For: Motivated Individuals: Highly motivated and committed individuals eager to join our Modern Apprenticeship Programme. Skills: Strong communication, interested in providing a high level of patient care and a passion for helping others, along with the ability to understand various procedures and processes. Must feel comfortable providing personal care to patients as this is a hands-on role. Interest: A particular interest in healthcare roles, coupled with a positive attitude towards work and professional development. Duties as a Healthcare Assistant may include: Monitoring patients and performing basic health checks. Helping patients to eat their meals. Assisting patients with getting up and going to bed. Supporting patients with washing, oral care, bathing and dressing. Assisting with visits to the toilet or changing incontinence aids. Caring for patients at the end of their lives. No Prior Experience Necessary: This Modern Apprenticeship welcomes applicants with limited work experience, including school leavers.
