Overview
This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College. In order to comply with mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based People Services Department. This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.
BACKGROUND TO THE POST: As one of the largest further and higher education colleges in the UK, our aim is to deliver learning experiences that develop wider skill bases and improve destinations for our students. Our college has a strong focus on students and meeting industry needs.
Note: Offers of appointment will be subject to DBS check (Enhanced where applicable), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, safeguarding understanding, and qualifications verification.
Main Tasks
* Teaching – contribute to the teaching programme delivering the subject.
* Preparation and Assessment – develop and produce teaching materials, manage planning and assessment paperwork, undertake assessment, and maintain relevant records.
* Administration – undertake administrative tasks related to the programme(s) taught and College requirements under the guidance of the Head of Department.
* Quality Systems – be subject to Internal Verification as required by the line manager; participate in the College’s lesson observation process and have an observed lesson each academic year.
* Health and Safety – ensure a safe working environment for colleagues, students and visitors in line with HASAW and the College Health and Safety Policy.
* Safeguarding – safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults for whom you are responsible and whom you come into contact with.
In order to support during busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties. The College will provide training.

Essential Attainments
* GCSE grade A-C or equivalent qualification in Maths and English.
* A degree in Maths or related disciplines such as Engineering.
* Level 5 Teacher Training Qualification or willingness to undertake the courses required to gain this.
* Strong Administrative skills, including IT skills.
* A willingness to undertake continuing professional development (CPD).
* CPD and updating industry-specific skills on an annual basis.
Desirable Attainments
* Previous experience of teaching at the relevant level and subject.
* Understanding of challenges in teaching Maths.
