Formed in 2017, One Big Circle is a fast-growing technology company that provides “Intelligent Video” solutions. We focus entirely on solving real-world industry problems by fusing new technology in the field of Video, IOT, Cloud and AI providing end to end solutions which allow our customers to dramatically improve their operational efficiency and safety. Our culture is one of high-quality technical delivery and we work at a speed that many industries are unaccustomed to; we have done this by building a team dynamic that challenges and empowers our people and creating an environment where everyone contributes and learns. AIVR (Automated Intelligent Video Review) is a state-of-the-art video technology system used by thousands of people in the rail industry. AIVR has won dozens of awards and is recognised as the market leading solution, but we are building many more opportunities both in existing and new markets which will further accelerate our growth.
We are seeking an ambitious and pro-active apprentice with a passion for electro-mechanical engineering to join and strengthen our Site and Systems Teams. This role offers the opportunity to complete a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Electro-Mechanical Engineering while contributing directly to the installation, maintenance, and development of our systems.
Over the course of the programme, you will be expected to take ownership of both your practical and academic development, working towards successful completion of a BEng (Hons) qualification and Degree Apprenticeship Certificate, evidenced through a final end-point assessment and portfolio of work.
Alongside this, you will play an active role in delivering high-tech projects, primarily involving the installation and integration of systems on trains at depots across the UK, as well as supporting system build, development, and testing activities at our Derby production facility.
The role involves regular travel to customer sites nationwide and requires the ability to balance operational responsibilities with the demands of degree-level study. You will gain hands-on experience working with a range of advanced technologies, including machine vision systems, precision lighting, laser measurement, thermal sensing, embedded Linux platforms, IP networking, and GPS/4G/5G connectivity. This exposure will enable you to develop a strong foundation in system integration, fault-finding, and engineering in real-world environments.
This is a dynamic and demanding role, offering the opportunity to apply academic learning directly to practical engineering challenges. You will be supported by experienced engineers, with the Lead Site Engineer ensuring a varied workload that reinforces and complements your academic learning. This is an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate to build a long-term career in electro-mechanical engineering.

This is a hands-on role with varied responsibilities, working hours, and locations depending on the specific project requirements.
While based from our Derby office, the role is primarily site-based, there will be a need to travel to our head office in Bristol several times per year. Travel and accommodation for these visits will be arranged and costs covered by the company.
