About the School:

Teach-Now is working in partnership with a specialist secondary provision in Broxbourne supporting pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), significant communication needs, and associated sensory and behavioural challenges.

The school provides highly personalised learning pathways focused on communication, independence, life skills, emotional regulation, and academic development. It is a structured, nurturing and collaborative environment where every achievement — no matter how small — is recognised and celebrated. Staff work closely together to ensure pupils feel safe, valued and supported to reach their full potential.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to plan and deliver a highly differentiated curriculum for pupils across Key Stages 3–5 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Autism.

You will create a calm, predictable and structured classroom environment that supports communication, independence and positive behaviour. The role involves designing personalised learning in line with EHCP outcomes and ensuring pupils make meaningful progress both academically and personally.

This is a deeply rewarding opportunity for a teacher passionate about inclusive education and specialist SEND practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Curriculum Delivery

• Design learning around EHCP outcomes and small-step progression.

• Deliver a curriculum focused on communication, functional literacy and numeracy, and life skills.

• Use structured teaching approaches, visual supports and sensory strategies.

• Complete two written reports per term and contribute to Annual Reviews.

Communication & Autism Practice

• Embed communication systems such as PECS, Makaton and visual timetables.

• Support sensory regulation through structured routines and adapted environments.

• Work closely with Speech and Language Therapists and other specialists.

Behaviour & Progress

Implement positive behaviour support strategies within a therapeutic framework.

Monitor and assess progress, celebrating small-step achievements.

Maintain high expectations while fostering trust and consistency.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead and deploy Teaching Assistants effectively.

• Work collaboratively with families, therapists and external agencies.

• Engage in CPD and contribute to whole-school SEND development.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

• Experience teaching pupils with SLD, ASC or complex needs (desirable).

• Experience working with EHCPs and personalised learning programmes.

• Understanding of structured teaching and autism-friendly practice.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a classroom team.

• Patient, resilient and committed to inclusive education.

Benefits:

• Supportive and experienced leadership team.

• Ongoing specialist SEND and autism training.

• Collaborative and therapeutic working environment.

• Opportunities for career progression within special education.

• A highly rewarding role making a tangible difference in pupils’ lives.
