We are looking for an experienced Childcare Lawyer to join a Local Authority in Yorkshire. This role involves providing high-quality legal advice, managing a busy public law children caseload, and supporting social care teams across the service.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a full caseload of care proceedings and other public law children matters
* Draft and prepare court documentation, including applications, statements, and case summaries
* Conduct advocacy where required
* Advise Children’s Services on PLO, risk, and care planning
* Work closely with social workers and legal colleagues, contributing to case strategy and safeguarding decisions
* Attend legal planning meetings when required
Essential Skills
* Strong experience in public law children matters within a local authority or similar setting
* Confident drafting skills and ability to manage a fast-paced caseload
* Clear, supportive communication with both legal and non‑legal teams
* Ability to work independently while being an effective team contributor
