Adoption West-Family Finding Social Worker

This is a temporary, fixed-term contract for 12 months, with an interview scheduled for Wednesday, 18 June 2025. The role involves hybrid working, combining office and home-based work, with attendance at meetings across the South West region.
About the Project
Participate in the South West Permanence Project, funded by Adoption England, aiming to increase permanency opportunities for children with disabilities through collaboration with 3 Regional Adoption Agencies and 15 local authorities.
Main Responsibilities
* Work across 13 local authorities in South West England to provide permanency options, including adoption, guardianship, and long-term fostering.
* Deliver an efficient family finding service within prescribed timescales.
* Consult with social workers and develop detailed understanding of children’s support needs, including creating ecomaps of their networks.
* Locate and contact support network members, facilitate discussions, and develop support plans.
* Assist with assessments of potential adopters, guardians, or foster carers.
* Contribute to case management, support planning, and multiagency meetings.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to project evaluation and training.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience as a social worker with children and families, including supporting children with disabilities or complex health needs.
* Understanding of trauma, abuse, and their impact on children.
* Ability to work flexibly and independently, analyzing complex information.
* Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
* Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel across the region.
