Overview
Band 6 Cardiology Specialist Nurse, 45 hrs a week (permanent). The role forms part of a cross‑site team to enhance care for patients with newly diagnosed or chronic heart failure and cardiovascular conditions.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert nursing care for patients with ischaemic, congenital and valvular heart disease undergoing high‑risk invasive and non‑invasive procedures.
* Contribute to the management and development of both inpatient and outpatient heart failure/cardiovascular nursing services across North Cumbria.
* Reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and re‑admissions through timely assessment and management of patients.
* Manage an individual patient caseload and advocate seamless care across hospital and community settings.
* Deliver specialist education and training for patients, carers, healthcare trainees and MDT members in primary and secondary care.
* Participate in data collection for national heart failure audit and other relevant audits or registries.
* Provide expert nursing care for patients undergoing high‑risk invasive/non‑invasive investigations.
* Work across Carlisle and Whitehaven sites, managing patient caseload and advocating seamless care.
Qualifications
Suitably qualified nurse with experience in cardiac or heart‑failure nursing and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Proven experience in managing complex cardiac patients and delivering patient‑centred care.
