We are currently advertising for an Education Welfare Officer to join the Attendance and Children Out of School Team. We are seeking a colleague who will be required to work with children, schools, parents and other professionals, in line with section 436A of the Education Act 1996 to ensure that all children are receiving a suitable education. The role is a grade 8 permanent post pro rata - two days per week (0.4 FTE) term time only. The post holder will work within the Attendance and Children Out of School Team based in Macclesfield on an agile basis. About the Role: This is just a snapshot of some of the exciting things you’ll be doing in role, to find out more about the other key responsibilities of the role please view the attached job description. About you: Lead on all aspects of the EHE statutory duties in line with relevant legislation with an additional focus of supporting GRT families. Ensure that all children who are EHE have their education and wellbeing monitored and there are procedures in place to do this and to challenge when there are concerns Advise, consult and challenge schools on making EHE referrals and their responsibilities. Contribute and undertake a wide range of data collection for the Local Authority and DfE. Use of data for monitoring EHE and GRT levels, school practice and allocation and impact of involvement Effective use of legal procedures, such as School Attendance Orders (SAO) where the parents fail to satisfy that their child is receiving a suitable education. Respond to enquiries from schools/parents/other teams and agencies, providing them with support and advice or sign posting to other services as appropriate, in relation to both EHE and GRT families. Make arrangements to establish the identities of children in CE who are EHE and GRT with the use of effective tracking and referral systems and ensure that they are receiving a suitable education. Support with updating policies and procedures in relation to EHE and procedures for supporting with GRT families.
