We have 4 job opportunities for a band 4 qualified dental nurse to work at our Cheshunt clinic and provide coverage across other HCT sites.
Role Overview
As a registered dental nurse for HCT you will support the dental team to ensure service users receive high‑quality dental care. The role focuses on delivering patient‑centred care to patients with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the dentist in providing a comprehensive range of NHS dental care, including treatment under inhalation sedation, general anaesthesia, or IV sedation where appropriate.
* Accurately record treatment using the R4 Dental electronic system and chart the dentist’s instructions at the time of treatment.
* Participate in the annual individual performance review process.
* Carry out other duties appropriate to the post, such as school visits, home visits and epidemiology.
* Cover staff sickness, annual leave, study leave or other absences at any Special Care Dental Service site throughout Hertfordshire.
* Be prepared to sit or stand for varying lengths of time in restricted positions, handle heavy equipment (e.g., hoists), and respond to unexpected changes in treatment plans.
* Manage incidental exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances, such as treating very sick children or patients with challenging behaviour.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Band 4 qualified dental nurse with a registration on the General Dental Council.
* National Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing.
* Proven knowledge of IT systems, e‑mail, and data entry.
* Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality and ethical guidelines.
* Current awareness of professional issues, policies, and procedures.
* Experience working with adults and children with a range of additional needs.
* Knowledge of dental software and strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate with patients who may have barriers to understanding.
* Evidence of teamwork and the ability to work independently.
* Ability to handle extremely nervous or phobic patients.
* Valid, full UK driving licence and access to a car for business use (unless a disability, as defined by the Equality Act 2010, applies).
