Summary
We wish to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly team and to work closely with our SENDco and class teachers to support our children in our inclusive and friendly school.
The successful candidate will support the progress and achievements of a child with additional needs who is currently in KS1. They will have a passion for and experience of working with pupils across a range of additional needs, but in particular pupils with SEMH needs.
They will be proactive, able to work off their own initiative, and model good practice in SEND provision. They must be able to work effectively as part of a team and have a good standard of English and Maths.
Variable hours (initially 16.25 hours with flexibility to rise to 31.25 hours per week).
This post will initially be fixed term until the end of the school year (or if the child leaves). The role will be reviewed in July 2026 with a view to possibly extending the contract dependent on budget.
Responsibilities
Working closely with the class teacher and SENDco, the success candidate will:
* Develop a positive and nurturing relationship with the child they support and place this at the centre of all learning provision.
* Working closely with the class teacher and SENDco, deliver a mixture of 1:1 and small group learning activities in such a way that facilitates engagement and learning.
* To support and develop social and behavioural skills within the classroom and during outdoor play.
* Deliver individualised support interventions across the week and promote the development of independence over time.

Essential Qualifications
NVQ level 2 or above qualification –appropriate to the post (or equivalent)
GCSE Grade 4 and above (or equivalent qualification) in English and Mathematics

Essential Experience
Experience of working with a range of SEND, in particular SEMH
Desirable Experience
Experience of working in a primary classroom environment
Trauma/ ACES training and implementation in a primary classroom environment
Be able to use ICT to support children's learning
