Overview
As a Nursing Assistant you will participate as a member of the Care Team to plan, lead, monitor and deliver high quality care to residents in line with their individual care plans, under the supervision and guidance of the Home Manager. You will assist residents with their daily activities, identify and support their individual needs and preferences, and communicate effectively while promoting privacy, dignity, choice, independence and residents’ rights. You will work alongside the Registered Nurse to support residents’ health and wellbeing within the Nursing Assistant role and scope. You will hold a NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care alongside completion of the Nursing Assistant program.
Responsibilities
* Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting, maintaining hygiene and dignity while promoting independence where possible.
* Provide mobility assistance, help residents move around the facility, transfer between beds and chairs, and ensure safe navigation of the environment.
* Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate) and report changes to nursing staff.
* Assist with feeding and nutrition to meet dietary needs, including support for feeding tubes or specialized diets as directed by healthcare professionals.
* Provide emotional support to residents and their families, creating a comforting and supportive environment.
* Maintain cleanliness and safety in patient rooms and common areas, change bed linens, and follow infection control protocols.
* Act as a primary contact for residents, communicating their needs and concerns to the nursing staff and ensuring care plans are followed.
* Demonstrate compassion, patience and physical capability to lift and move patients safely.
* Observe and report changes in residents’ conditions with attention to detail.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a nursing assistant.
* NVQ3 in Health and Social Care.
* Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, schizophrenia care, memory care, and hospice support is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
* Experience in a similar role in the UK is desirable.
* Flexibility in working hours and the ability to adapt to different healthcare settings.
* Right to work in the UK for at least 12 months without sponsorship.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Caring and compassionate; reliable.
* Ability to follow care plans effectively and communicate at all levels.
