Support Secretary in ICU & Critical Care

An outstanding opportunity for a support secretary has arisen within the Department of ICU and Critical Care.

Would you like to take on a role that provides you with ownership of your work? Would you like to be creative in your approach and be responsible for supporting and ensuring our patients receive the best quality of care by using your skills and experience and our Trust's values and behaviours?

This post is permanent.

Hours per week: 15 hours, working 7.5 hours Tuesday and Wednesday.


Main duties of the job

To provide an efficient and effective typing and administration function to the team. The post requires fast and accurate audio typing skills, and a sound knowledge of medical terminology.

Good communication, organisational skills, and previous secretarial experience is essential as is experience of dealing with sensitive information. Knowledge of medical terminology and previous experience using hospital based IT systems such as PAS and Medisec will be advantageous.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* 5 GCSE's or equivalent, grade C or above. Must include English.
* Typing qualifications to RSAII (Royal Society of Arts) standard.
* Computer literate to ECDL (European Computer Driving License) standard or equivalent.
* AMSPAR (The Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Managers, Administrators and Receptionists) Diploma
* RSA III (Royal Society of Arts) standard


Experience

* Secretarial experience
* Hospital based experience


Knowledge and Skills

* Medical terminology
* Fast and accurate audio-typing
* Good communicator - able to deal with people at all levels.
* Ability to handle sensitive information without compromising confidentiality or trust.
* Knowledge of Medisec
* Experience with Patient Management System
* Awareness of NHS policies


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£24,625 to £25,674 a year, pro rata.
