Main duties of the job
To provide clinical support in the Pre-Operative Assessment(POA) Unit and act as an autonomous practitioner. Undertaking both formal and informal teaching to cascade knowledge, skills and promote best practice withinthe POA service.The Pre Assessment Nurse will be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating care to meet patients needs.Carry out duties under the direction of Department Sister providing a pre-operative assessment service for all patients accessing the unit.To work within the organisations policies, standard operating procedures and guidelines.To maintain effective communication with the multi-professional team about patient careTo develop knowledge and skills appropriate to the role and work areaTo contribute to the development of services and quality improvements

Qualifications
* Professional and clinical competence
* Evidence of on-going professional development in a recognised and appropriate nursing field of practice
Experience
* Previous experience in Surgery/Pre-operative Assessment
* Leadership and management skills
* Able to demonstrate appropriate clinical and
* managerial skills commensurate with the post.

Registration
