Academics are recruiting on behalf of an ‘Outstanding’, small SEN independent school in Southampton, Hampshire, which caters for young people aged between 8-16 years with ASD, attachment difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs. They provide tailored educational packages for all students. The have an excellent reputation and offer bespoke curriculum's to enable all students to succeed and progress educationally and emotionally.
The school is spread across various sites in Dibden Purlieu, Totton and an Outdoor Learning Centre in Romsey. Small class sizes and high staff ratios allow them to provide highly bespoke and individualised educational provision to the students with additional support provided from their therapy and pastoral teams.
They are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced Design & Technology Teacher to join their friendly and supportive team at their Romsey site on a full-time, permanent contract.
The successful candidate will:
* Plan and deliver Design & Technology / Art lessons whilst following the national curriculum.
* Have a desire to work in an SEN setting.
* Be approachable, flexible and adaptable, with a desire to make a difference in students lives.
* Have the capability for supporting children with social and emotional behavioural needs within an educational environment.
* Possess effective communication and relationship building skills.
* Be passionate about providing quality education care and support to young people.
* To intervene physically with students, when required, using Team Teach trained techniques when de-escalation strategies have failed (full training will be provided).
* Build team commitment with colleagues and in the classroom engage and motivate pupils.
Qualifications and requirements:
* QTS or equivalent required.
* Proven teaching experience with a desire to work in an SEN setting.
* Full UK driving licence – desirable
