The salary advertised is for a full-time position (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Part-time hours/sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.
Hourly rate of pay: £14.09 - £15.14
This is a 39-week sessional post, working during school term time plus in-service days.
Days and hours of work:
Monday - Thursday, 08:25-15:45
Friday, 08:25-11:50
Start date: 16th June 2025.
About Ross High School
Ross High School is a co-educational, non-denominational school located in Tranent, East Lothian, approximately 12 miles from Edinburgh city centre. The school currently has 1252 pupils, with plans for expansion to 1350. It offers good facilities and collaborates with community partners to enhance learning. The school is designated as the ELC provision for pupils with Complex Support Needs.
Job Role
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a caring and creative team supporting pupils with severe and complex needs. Responsibilities include supporting pupils' personal, physical, medical, and nutritional needs, assisting with curriculum access, and implementing support plans in collaboration with teachers and therapists.
Key Responsibilities
* Support pupils in accessing learning across all curriculum areas.
* Assist with actions from Individualised Education Plans, support plans, and personal care plans.
* Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, tidy learning environment.
* Develop understanding of individual pupils' capabilities and discuss issues with the team.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Experience working with individuals with additional support needs.
* Experience supporting young people in educational or similar settings.
* First aid training.
* Experience with personal care and health support plans.
* Understanding of autism or communication disorders.

Application Requirements
Qualifications include a good standard of general education and experience working with children with additional support needs. SSSC registration is mandatory for nursery roles, with a requirement to register within 3 months of employment.
This position is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, requiring PVG scheme membership or update prior to employment. Applicants with recent UK or overseas criminal record checks must present appropriate documentation.
