Microbiology Technical Scientist – 2 Years Fixed Term Contract
This is a site-based role in Worthing, UK.
Shift pattern, 4 on 4 off rolling – 07:00 – 17:45.
1. To carry out microbiological analytical test methods for oral products and stability studies (as required). Perform environmental monitoring (viable) of Production/Microbiology laboratory testing areas using SOPs and accurately document the results as part of the quality control process to ensure a batch is of satisfactory quality for release to the market.
2. Responsible for real time decision making and ownership of processes, equipment and procedures.
3. To provide validation expertise as the microbiological technical expert, deliver projects to support microbiological testing, equipment and facilities in line with relevant regulatory legislation and deliver requalification activities in line with the site VMP to maintain compliance.

In this role you will:
4. To test routine production and stability samples supplied from the site Value Streams and meet testing lead-time targets. This includes microbial examination of non-sterile products, water and microbial identification, depending on area(s) of responsibility.
5. Carry out environmental monitoring of Production/Microbiology laboratory testing areas.
6. To check and verify analytical testing, environmental monitoring and other data generated by other analysts, depending on area(s) of responsibility. Generate associated reports.
7. Carry out compliance reviews for gap analysis on pharmacopeia (monographs and techniques) and global documentation.
8. Maintain validation life cycle of microbiological equipment, methods and facilities and provide a key role as a subject matter expert (SME) as required.
9. Manage deviations (including immediate actions to be taken, raising of deviations, coordinating, investigating.
Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
10. HNC/D or equivalent or industrial experience.
11. Expert knowledge of microbiological techniques, including analysis of pharmaceutical products/raw materials, water and environmental monitoring processes.
12. Experience with Quality/EHS investigations and CAPA implementation.
13. Good understanding of the principal of validation.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
14. Experience of engagement in regulatory inspections.
15. Good report writing skills for technical and validation documentation.
16. Excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and presentation; able to interact with and influence all levels of individuals across a variety of organizations (without a direct reporting relationship).
17. Be self-motivated and able to manage their time effectively.
