About This Role
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (0.6 FTE Fixed term 12 months) to help develop and contribute to teaching, research, and knowledge exchange within the School of Engineering. This role presents an opportunity to shape multidisciplinary engineering education. The successful candidate will design, deliver, and lead modules on our engineering programmes, provide mentorship to staff and students, and contribute to research initiatives and external collaborations. Areas of focus may include Electromechanical Systems, CAD (Solidworks), Machine Design and Manufacturing, or related topics.
Individuals with a research-oriented mindset will have the opportunity to develop scholarly activity in engineering. If you have a portfolio of research related to Mechanical/Automotive/Aerospace, or clear plans to develop one, we encourage you to apply.
About You
We seek candidates with diverse skill sets and strong expertise in Electromechanical Systems, CAD (Solidworks), Machine Design and Manufacturing, or related areas. We value applicants who can help develop our aspiring student engineers. We particularly welcome applications from female or Global Majority candidates. The successful applicant will typically hold a Doctoral-level qualification in the relevant subject area or be near completion. Applications will also be considered from individuals with significant and relevant industrial experience backed by professional recognition (e.g., CEng with IMechE or similar). A teaching qualification and experience in higher education are advantageous. Evidence of continuous professional development in relevant subject areas is expected. The appointee will be part of a team delivering Mechanical, Automotive and Aerospace degree-related modules.
