Job summary

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated doctor, who is committed to excellence to join our dynamic team. This post will be for a fixed term period.

We know the importance of supported learning opportunities and are proud of the encouraging environment that our team cultivates we promise departmental teaching, MDT meetings, grand rounds and journal clubs as well as study leave. We have an excellent record of junior doctors progressing on to formal training programmes. You will have the opportunity to be involved with our active research unit, working in partnership with the University of Portsmouth, and currently have a number of projects developed by our junior colleagues achieving presentation and publication.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

* To work as a junior doctor, alongside nursing and allied health professional colleagues and senior medics to provide a safe clinical environment for the patients and visitors to the Trust
* Supervise and assist Foundation and Core level doctors working with you and support teaching for medical students
* Communicate professionally and appropriately with nurses, allied health professionals, patients, relatives and all other medical staff.
* Take part in rostered out of normal hours work when orientation complete and competence assessed
* Proactively and positively contribute to the successful overall performance of the Trust


Person Specification


Qualifications

* - Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
* - Primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC
* - ALS/BLS
* - MRCS or MRCP or MRCOG or MRCPH (Specialty dependant)
* MRCS or MRCP or MRCOG or MRCPH (Specialty dependant)


Experience

* Higher professional training at ST3+; NHS experience would be desirable.
* Evidence of completion of Internal Medicine training or equivalent competencies; demonstrable skills and experience of General Medicine or a medical sub specialty; experience as a Medical Specialty Trainee 3+ or equivalent.


Additional criteria

* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice; Primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC; ALS/BLS.
* Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent by the intended start date.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
