Pre-Press & Workflow Specialist (Order Controller) – Shape the Future of Print at Apprintable

We’re looking for a Pre-Press & Workflow Specialist (Order Controller) to join our team – someone who’s equally passionate about perfect PDFs, slick automation, and making the production floor (and client order flow) run smoother every single day.
What You’ll Do
* Preflight & approve jobs with precision, catching issues early and outputting press-ready files with confidence.
* Build bespoke setups: from tricky impositions and step-and-repeats to booklets, VDP, and anything unusual that comes through the door.
* Lead automation with PitStop Server – build, refine, and iterate workflows so jobs flow faster, smarter, and cleaner.
* Manage Printkits portals – help set up and maintain client portals, working with the sales team to ensure orders land in production smoothly.
* Keep evolving: our core ethos is rapid iteration and continuous improvement – if something can be done better, we change it in minutes and hours, not weeks and months.
* Collaborate to solve bottlenecks – work closely with the Production Manager, Sales Team, and Product Manager to spot workflow issues, unblock jobs, and improve throughput without compromising quality.
* Control the order flow: prioritise intelligently, chase missing assets, and make sure nothing gets stuck.
Your Toolkit
You’ll be hands-on with the best pre-press and workflow tech in the business. Training is provided, and you’ll play a big part in how we keep evolving it:
* Enfocus PitStop Pro & PitStop Server – our automation backbone for preflight, corrections, and smart job routing.
* Imposition Wizard – for bespoke layouts and complex pagination.
* Ticket Wizard – for rapid VDP and custom ticketing workflows.
* Fiery Impose + HotFolders – connecting automation to Fiery Command WorkStation for efficient, repeatable setups.
* Printkits portals – managing client storefronts, templates, and order flows in collaboration with the sales team.
* Integration with print & finishing kit (including our new rotary die-cutter, automated multi-finisher, creaser/folder, and latest digital press) to ensure pre-press translates seamlessly to production.
About You
* 2+ years in pre-press / print production (or equivalent hands-on experience).
* Expert-level PDF knowledge: fonts, bleed, colour management, transparency, overprint, imposition.
* Comfortable (or eager to become an expert) in Enfocus PitStop / PitStop Server.
* Excited by automation, lean principles, and rapid iteration – you thrive where improvements happen fast and everyone owns them.
* Organised, communicative, and confident working across production, sales, and product teams.
