A great opportunity has arisen for a Typist to join our dynamic and highly functioning Support Team in Cellular Pathology. The post will be based in the Pathology Department at Hull Royal Infirmary.
Responsibilities
The main duties include typing correspondence from service users in a timely manner to ensure referral to treatment and cancer pathway targets are met, sorting the incoming and outgoing Cellular Pathology reports. The successful candidate will work with the team of Cellular Pathology Consultants and Laboratory Team, requiring excellent communication skills, typist experience, knowledge of medical terminology, audio‑typing and digital dictation experience.
Qualifications
* GCSE English Language, Grade C (4) or above (or equivalent)
* Word processing skills – RSA II (or equivalent)
* Typing skills – RSA II (or equivalent)
Experience
* Previous clerical/administrative experience
* Experience working in a customer‑focused environment
* Experience of using a variety of IT applications, including Microsoft Office
* Experience typing medical reports
* Experience in audio typing
Skills, Knowledge and Ability
* Effective communication skills, verbal and written
* Proficient audio typist with ability to accurately transcribe complex audio tapes
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to assimilate new practices and knowledge
* Ability to be flexible and adapt to new demands
* Ability to get on well with members of a team
* Ability to work under own initiative and stay calm under pressure
* Knowledge of office applications and procedures
* Knowledge of medical terminology
