Are you looking for an interesting and varied role? An opportunity has arisen to join the Blood Sciences Department, based in Pathology at Pilgrim Hospital as a Biomedical Assistant.

We are seeking a flexible, enthusiastic, self‑organised and motivated individual to join our team, to help deliver laboratory services across the Trust.


Main duties of the job

The post is based in the Blood Sciences laboratory (Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion) in Pathology at Pilgrim Hospital, and involves data entry, processing and testing/analysis of blood and urine samples using automated equipment and manual processing.

Previous clinical laboratory experience is desirable. Candidates should have good A Levels /GCSE's in Science, English and Maths, or be able to demonstrate suitable equivalent training or experience.

You will be required to have good communication and keyboard skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Although supervised by Biomedical Scientists, once fully trained, you should be capable of working independently. Participation in the 24/7 shift system will be required.
