We invite part time and full time applications from Sonographers who are caring, enthusiastic and self‑motivated. We welcome candidates with a wide range of ultrasound competencies, including those with experience in only one clinical area, as well as trainee Sonographers with a pending PG Certificate/Diploma in Medical Ultrasound.
Main duties of the job
* CASE accredited PG Certificate/Diploma in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent (DMU).
* A current or pending professional registration (e.g. HCPC, NMC, RCT) is essential.
* Evidence of ongoing CPD and learning related to your areas of ultrasound practice.
* Experience of using a wide range of ultrasound equipment within the Trust.
* Participation in Ultrasound extended day and weekend working.
The vacant positions are based at Queens Hospital Burton and Royal Derby Hospital sites, with rotation through community sites and CDCs including Ilkeston, Ashbourne, Long Eaton, Ripley, Tamworth, and Lichfield. Depending on your competency, experience and skill mix there will be an expectation to rotate through general, obstetric, early pregnancy, urology rooms and all community hospital departments.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
* Current or pending completion of UK CASE accredited PG Cert/Diploma/MSc in Medical Ultrasound, including core ultrasound modules (General Medical & Obs/Gynae).
* Demonstrable ultrasound scanning experience within an NHS Trust (pre or post qualification).
* Current or pending UK professional registration (e.g. HCPC, NMC, RCT).
* Demonstrable post‑registration practice to broaden knowledge and experience.
* Evidence of short courses, including eLearning and Health compliance.
* Evidence of communication within a multidisciplinary team.
* Evidence of empathy and understanding towards patients/carers.
Analytical & judgement skills
* Evidence of ability to use skills and judgment to assess patient condition and achieve optimum examination results.
* Evidence of problem‑solving skills within a high‑pressure ultrasound environment.
* Evidence of use of local protocols and national guidance to ensure correct procedure is undertaken.
Planning & organisation
* Evidence of planning own workload.
* Evidence of departmental organisation.
Physical skills
* Basic keyboard/IT skills (well‑written application).
* Manipulation of ultrasound equipment and patients to achieve best results.
* Good physical and mental wellbeing: ability to work autonomously, run scan lists independently with little support.
