Job Overview
The GP Training Programme Director works with and supports the Heads of School and Primary Care Dean to lead the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the objectives of NHS England Workforce Training and Education (WT&E).
Accountability
Professionally accountable to the Head of School and managerially accountable to the GP Patch Associate Dean.
Key Focus Areas
Improving learner supervision, assessment and experience, engaging faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes. The role is evolving to include whole workforce transformation and the development of multi‑professional links.
Collaboration
Supports the Primary Care Dean and Postgraduate Dean, working across health and social care to reflect changing service models and deliver an integrated workforce of diverse professionals.
Candidate Profile
Self‑motivated and able to respond quickly to changing priorities and workloads.
Strong leadership skills are essential.
Good knowledge of the GP curriculum and mandatory requirements, with a current GP registration with the GMC.
Experience in healthcare education management, acquired through a formal university course or equivalent experience.
Acts as a representative of the Primary Care Department, a positive advocate for NHS England, and promotes leadership that inspires, motivates and empowers staff, while demonstrating NHS values.
