Job Introduction
As a Clinical Fellow in Community Paediatrics at HCRG Care Group, you will be part of a friendly and dynamic team of ten consultants and three associate specialists based in St Martin’s Hospital, delivering services across the Child Health department.
The post holder will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing care to children, young people, and families in BaNES and Wiltshire. Relevant experience in clinical management of children, including neurodevelopmental difficulties, is desirable. Safeguarding children experience is also desirable but training can be provided.
Department Overview
The Child Health department is located in St Martins Community Hospital, serving Bath and Wiltshire, and is a training department hosting paediatric trainees from Severn deanery at ST4-8. We are accredited to supervise higher specialist trainees in community child health and are supported by an administrative team.
Our services span BaNES, Wiltshire, Mendip in Somerset, and include co-location with safeguarding, nursing, and therapy teams. We work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues and utilize an integrated electronic records system. Clinics are held at GP surgeries, community hospitals, and schools. We also provide a safeguarding on-call rota with Wiltshire colleagues, covering BaNES, Mendip, and parts of North and West Wiltshire, with cases seen at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
Role Details
This service operates Monday to Friday and is closed on Bank Holidays. The post is advertised as full-time (10 PAs), but part-time or job share applications will be considered.
Main Responsibilities
* Deliver community paediatric clinics, assessing children with health, development, or educational concerns, including medical assessments for SEND processes.
* Contribute to teaching and supervising paediatric trainees and medical students.
* Perform examinations related to Looked After Children assessments and complete statutory forms.
* Liaise with health professionals for coordinated care.
* Participate in safeguarding on-call rota, providing assessments, advice, and multi-agency collaboration.
Candidate Requirements
* UK medical degree and full GMC registration with a license to practice.
* UK experience (ST4-ST6).
* MRCPCH/MRCP or equivalent.
* Experience in community paediatrics and UK child health systems knowledge.
* Experience with neurodevelopmental assessments.
* Driving license and access to a car.
