Temporary Payroll & Customer Service Advisor \n Location: Sheffield \n Start Date: ASAP (Subject to Clearance)\n Temp 3-month contract with the possibility of extension\n Pay Rate: £12.27 per hour\n\nAbout the Role:\n My client is looking for experienced Payroll Process Assistant's to join their team in Sheffield on a temporary basis.\n You will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate payments to staff, both weekly and monthly, working within a fast-paced and process-driven environment.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong payroll knowledge, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in line with payroll legislation and organisational policies.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nEnsure all payroll input is processed within strict deadlines and meets audit requirements.\nAccurately process temporary and permanent payroll changes for allocated payrolls.\nReview and validate input by other clerks.\nMaintain staff records and ensure compliance with statutory and organisational payroll agreements.\nSupport across Employment Services Hubs when required.\nUndertake additional tasks as appropriate to this level.\n Essential Skills & Qualifications:\n\nMinimum 5 GCSEs (A-C) including English and Maths or equivalent\nExcellent communication and organisational skills\nStrong attention to detail and high data accuracy\nProven ability to investigate and resolve complex pay queries\nUnderstanding of PAYE, National Insurance, and statutory deductions\nAbility to prioritise workload and respond flexibly to changing demands\nTeam player with a professional and confidential approach to work\n Desirable Skills:\n\nPrevious payroll or finance experience\nNVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Payroll\nUnderstanding of payroll legislation and data protection\nExperience working with multi-customer payrolls\nDemonstrated initiative in process improvement\n Working Pattern:\n Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM\n Hybrid Working: Initially office-based, with hybrid (1 day/week in-office on Wednesdays) after the initial period\n Training: No formal training is provided prior to starting; candidates must be confident in payroll processing from day one.\n\nBrook Street NMR is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy
