Job Description:
We are currently seeking a talented and enthusiastic Nursery Chef to join our team. As the nursery chef, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks for children in accordance with dietary requirements and health guidelines. You will play a crucial role in promoting healthy eating habits and ensuring that meal times are enjoyable and enriching experiences for the children.
Hours: 10am - 3pm Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities:
* Plan and prepare balanced and nutritious meals and snacks for children, taking into account dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences.
* Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and nursery policies.
* Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain stock levels to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
* Collaborate with nursery staff to accommodate individual dietary needs and preferences, including special diets and food allergies.
* Create a welcoming and inclusive dining environment for children, encouraging social interaction and positive eating habits.
* Engage with children during meal times, fostering their curiosity about food and promoting healthy eating habits through interactive activities.
* Monitor food consumption and provide feedback to nursery management on menu planning and dietary trends.
* Stay updated on current nutritional guidelines and trends in early childhood nutrition, incorporating new ideas and recipes into the menu as appropriate.
* Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding menu choices, special dietary considerations, and food-related activities.
* Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a chef, preferably in a childcare setting or similar environment.
* A passion for working with children and promoting healthy eating habits.
* Strong knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for young children.
* Excellent culinary skills and creativity in menu planning and meal preparation.
* Food hygiene certification and knowledge of food safety regulations.
* Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with children, parents, and colleagues.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing dietary needs and preferences.
* A positive attitude and a willingness to work as part of a collaborative team.
