Overview
Learning Support Assistant x 2 positions. Hours: part time (30 hours per week for 37 weeks worked - term time plus 1 training week). Duration: permanent. Salary: £23,971 FTE (pro-rata £16,371.04) per annum. Location: North Notts College, WorksOp.
The Role
We are looking for Learning Support Assistants to work within our busy Additional Learning Support Team. In this rewarding role, you will provide in and out of class support to assist students with learning difficulties/disabilities to help them achieve their best possible outcomes. This may be supporting with personal care and/or literacy and numeracy. You will be a key part of the Student Support team, and will assist in the planning, preparation & reviewing of learning in conjunction with relevant curriculum staff, providing feedback and carrying out reviews as appropriate to ensure students are making expected progress and working towards outcomes. You will have the personal skills to be able to effectively support students, dealing with challenging behaviour when it arises, and helping them to develop their own coping strategies. You will have experience supporting students in an educational setting and knowledge of SEND, ALS and EHCPs.
Responsibilities and duties
• Support students with learning difficulties/disabilities in both in-class and out-of-class settings.
• Assist in planning, preparation and reviewing of learning in collaboration with curriculum staff.
• Provide feedback and carry out progress reviews to support learners in achieving outcomes.
• Manage challenging behaviours and help students develop coping strategies.
• Liaise with the Additional Learning Support and Curriculum teams, and report to the LSA Manager.
Qualifications and experience
* Experience supporting students in an educational setting.
* Knowledge of SEND, ALS and EHCPs.
* Hold or be working towards Maths and English at L2/C grade to be considered for this role.
* Willingness to work towards an adult learner support or equivalent qualification.
Work context and reporting
You will work closely with members of the Additional Learning Support and Curriculum department teams. You will report directly to the LSA Manager and liaise with tutors to support learners within the classroom environment.
