Booth Welsh are working with one of the UKs fastest growing defence companies - and we’re supporting them in hiring skilled CNC Machinists with solid 5-axis milling experience to strengthen their machining team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys complex machining challenges, values accuracy, and wants to work in a modern facility producing high-quality components for demanding industries.
What You’ll Be Doing Day-to-Day
In this role, you’ll be trusted to take components from drawing to finished part, using advanced 5-axis milling capabilities. Expect to:
Prepare, programme and run 5-axis milling machines to deliver precision components.
Work directly from engineering drawings to ensure parts are produced exactly to specification.
Keep a close eye on machine performance, adjusting settings where necessary to maintain output quality.
Carry out routine machine care and housekeeping to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Inspect your own work and verify that every component meets the required tolerances.
Solve minor machining issues quickly and safely to keep downtime low.
Work closely with engineering and production colleagues to fine-tune processes and improve efficiency.
Maintain safe working practices and contribute to a tidy, organised environment.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
We’re looking for experienced CNC Machinists with a background in 5-axis milling who can demonstrate:
Previous work on high-precision components.
Ability to set, operate, and programme milling machinery confidently.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and part specifications.
Solid knowledge of machine maintenance and preventative checks.
Dexterity and skill in using a range of hand tools.
Awareness of lean principles or 5S (advantageous, not essential).
Familiarity with specific machine control systems or editing programmes is highly desirable.
