NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
Shift Pattern
The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday/On call.
Location and Team
This permanent Respiratory Consultant position is based within Inverclyde Royal Hospital (IRH) in the department of Respiratory Medicine. The Respiratory department is closely linked to the wider Respiratory team across the Clyde Sector, which includes The Royal Alexandra and The Vale of Leven Hospitals. The team comprises 9.5 WTE Consultants and provides general Respiratory Service and sub‑specialties such as medical thoracoscopy, severe asthma, interstitial and pleural disease.
Key Responsibilities (Essential)
* Contribute to the leadership, delivery and development of respiratory services, including enhancing care for patients with respiratory diseases in Inverclyde.
* Develop expansion of the service with the option of additional in‑reach into the High Dependency Unit.
* Participate in the IRH consultant medical receiving rota.
* Provide a 10 programmed activity (10 PA) Consultant post, with flexibility for specialist interests and opportunities to integrate academic or research within the PA sessions.
Qualifications
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a licence to practice, FRCA (or equivalent) and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should provide evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of entry. Non‑UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Desirable
The job plan is designed for a full‑time post, but there may be opportunities to negotiate job plans. The Consultant team strongly advocates teamwork and support to ensure a healthy work‑life balance.
