Mechanical Maintenance Engineer/Fitter Redditch The Company: Incinerating waste, turning into clean gasses and then sending the gasses over to the hospital which helps the boiler heat the hospital. Serving all industries, from petrochemicals to aerospace and hospitals. Working under high temperatures (heat). Equipment includes in large mechanical equipment including incinerators, water pumps, ancillary pumps, silos, filtration systems. The site is dealing with clinical waste (blood, excrement, hypodermic medicines) but PPE is provided. Redditch site has 13 non office staff, operators, shift supervisors, 1 maintenance engineer. The Role: Organise and manage the day to day/weekly/monthly site maintenance function, including site and contractors staff, liaising with operations staff to ensure a high level of service. Assessment of plant defects, specifying remedial action, and proposal of modifications where appropriate, to maintain plant reliability and availability. Assist in the development of Stores Systems, Management Systems, H&S procedures and the CMMS to improve the organisation of all aspects of the maintenance function. Assist in planning and supervision of planned maintenance outages including shutdowns, including specification of work, quality control and co-ordination between all parties involved. Assist in working within approved budgets. Attend maintenance based HSE site intervention meetings as required. Ensure that the maintenance effort is responsive to the overall needs of the business. Ensure all fault reporting is completed and acted upon in a timely manner and all reports are filed correctly. Ensure all equipment requiring repair/overhaul off site, is dealt with in a timely manner. Ensure critical spares stock levels are maintained and that stock checks are carried out on time. Carry out hazard and risk assessments for routine and defect maintenance tasks as required Essential Skills: Able to attend site out of hours to respond to breakdown or emergency situations. Capability to Arc and/or MiG weld Experience of CMMS systems Able to attend site out of hours to respond to breakdown or emergency situations. Enthusiastic and competent problem solver with a practical approach to engineering problems. PC literate, and capable of learning how to use new software systems. Desirable Skills: IOSH Managing Safely FLT License MEWP Licenses Skills, qualifications & experience Mechanical Fitting/Maintenance background Happy working in an industrial environment i.e. heat, dealing with waste MIG/TIG Welding ideal (Training Available) Qualifications beneficial FLT License ideal or experience (Training Available) Salary/shift pattern £36k - £38k Can earn an extra 10k on top 39 hour week Mon Fri 7 a.m. 3 p.m. typically 6 a.m. 12 p.m. Saturday mornings overtime - expectation to come in every other weekend or every 3 weekends (can come in every Sat morning if they want) 24/7 callout every week Unlikely to be called out Current engineer called out 3 times in 4 months and most of the time able to do this over the phone If going away for the weekend they can accommodate it so someone else takes the calls so some flexibility.
