We are looking to build a pool of professionals from a range of therapeutic disciplines to match family members with the right support. The role requires an accredited qualification in trauma therapy—including compassion‑focused, EMDR, or similar—and deep knowledge of trauma, grief, loss and/or palliative care. The successful candidate will have experience delivering counselling and psychotherapy within a structured programme.

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports children with life‑shortening conditions, their families and those living with loss across West Yorkshire. We provide nursing care, hydrotherapy, creative therapy, days out, memory making, end‑of‑life care, bereavement support and counselling to families in their own homes and throughout the community.
Job Responsibilities
 * Carry out trauma‑informed assessments on individuals and families, providing overview of emotional, social, practical and environmental needs, family dynamics, strengths and coping strategies.
 * Complete risk assessments for self‑harm and suicide risk.
 * Contract with clients to clarify confidentiality and boundary issues.
 * Develop formulation and support plans based on assessment findings.
 * Use counselling skills and trauma theory to deliver therapeutic interventions.
 * Empower families and individuals to make own choices and decisions.
 * Communicate confidently via telephone, email and video call.
 * Maintain excellent internal communication with multidisciplinary team and other agencies.
 * Keep accurate, contemporaneous professional records meeting legal requirements.
 * Implement outcome measures such as PHQ‑9, SDQ, AAG and Impact of Events Scale.
 * Manage own caseload with structured planning and flexibility.
 * Participate in external supervision and maintain professional registration and standards of conduct.
 * Work within local safeguarding children’s board procedures and maintain reflective approach to personal development.
 * Keep up to date with research and developments in trauma, bereavement and palliative care.
Qualifications
 * Recognised professional counselling or psychotherapy qualification.
 * Membership of BACP/NCS or equivalent counselling body.
 * EMDR training and qualification (desirable).
 * Specific grief and loss training (desirable).
Experience
 * Minimum 2 years post‑registration experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma and loss.
 * Qualified in an area of trauma therapy (EMDR, CBT, Compassion Focused).
 * Experience supporting adults affected by pregnancy, baby and child bereavement.
 * Providing therapeutic support to individuals within a multidisciplinary team.
 * Assessment of psychosocial needs of individuals and families.
 * Excellent interpersonal, communication and time‑management skills.
 * Computer literate, flexible, friendly, enthusiastic and confident.
 * Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
 * Knowledge of children’s hospice services and perinatal mental health (desirable).
 * Postgraduate qualifications in trauma, psychotherapy or counselling (desirable).
