We are seeking an experienced and proactive Premises Lead (Senior Caretaker) to take responsibility for the day-to-day management and strategic oversight of our school site. This is a key role within our school community, ensuring that our buildings and grounds are safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained at all times. You’ll lead a small site team, coordinate maintenance schedules, manage contractors, and take ownership of all aspects of health & safety compliance. Key Responsibilities: * Oversee the maintenance, security, and cleanliness of the entire school site * Manage and support premises and cleaning staff * Carry out and oversee planned preventative maintenance, repairs, and improvements * Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation (including COSHH, risk assessments, fire safety) * Act as the main point of contact for contractors and external suppliers * Maintain and update premises-related documentation, logs, and records * Manage site budgets related to maintenance, equipment, and works * Support with school events, emergency repairs, and out-of-hours responsibilities when needed Candidate Requirements: * Proven experience in a similar premises/facilities management role (ideally in a school or public-sector setting) * Strong practical skills in maintenance, DIY, and building services * Knowledge of health & safety regulations, compliance requirements, and site risk management * Confident in supervising staff and managing contractors * Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills * Ability to work flexibly and take initiative * Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain) What We Offer: * A competitive salary and benefits package * Supportive senior leadership and a collaborative staff community * Access to CPD and professional development opportunities * A varied, hands-on role with autonomy and responsibility
