Residential Childcare Worker – Senior Level

We are seeking experienced and dedicated Senior Residential Childcare Workers to join a well-established organisation providing residential care for children and young people aged 8 to 18 with emotional, behavioural, and complex needs. This role focuses on delivering high-quality therapeutic care in a safe, nurturing environment, promoting positive outcomes, and supporting young people's development.
About the Role
As a Senior Residential Childcare Worker, you will play a pivotal leadership role within the residential care team. You will supervise and support a small team of Residential Childcare Workers, ensuring the delivery of personalised care plans that meet the individual needs of each young person. You will work directly with young people, supporting them to achieve positive progress and develop independence skills. Regular participation in child-centred meetings with the clinical team and support for the Registered Manager are key aspects of this role.
Key Requirements and Responsibilities
* Relevant experience in residential childcare within a therapeutic environment or similar setting
* Experience working with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and complex needs
* Proven ability to lead and supervise a team of RCWs, ensuring adherence to safeguarding and regulatory standards
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, Ofsted standards, and legislation related to children’s care
* Ability to develop and implement bespoke care plans and contribute to ongoing care reviews
* Hold a valid Full UK driving licence
* Support the organisation’s safeguarding policies and positive behaviour approaches
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Residential Care, Children & Young People, or equivalent
* Additional qualifications such as Level 2 Certificate in Child & Adolescent Mental Health or Positive Behaviour Support are desirable
* Commitment to continuous professional development, with opportunities to achieve higher levels such as Level 4 in Children, Young People & Families Practitioner
