Job Overview
A typical day will involve completing eye examinations, contact lens and extended service examinations. You will work alongside our Dispensing Optician Manager to support colleagues with training, coaching and maintaining departmental standards. Due to our extended service contracts with the NHS, we are committed to delivering a wide range of care for the treatment and monitoring of eye conditions and will support you to gain any additional accreditations you may need.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete eye examinations, contact lens and extended service examinations.
- Support colleagues with training, coaching and maintaining departmental standards.
- Deliver NHS extended service contracts, including treatment and monitoring of eye conditions.
- Assist in gaining additional accreditations if required.
- Provide mentoring to GOC registered professionals supervising students.
- Offer clinical or service‑based support to store staff and customers.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Fully qualified optometrist registered with the GOC.
- Registered performer with your NHS area team or health board.
- MECS or WECs accredited, or willing to gain within 12 months of joining Asda (funded and supported).
- On track to meet the statutory points requirement for CPD.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Passionate about providing a memorable customer experience.
- Passionate about developing new patient services and shaping the culture of the department.
