Overview
We are seeking an experienced .NET C# Contractor to join a major technology initiative within a leading commodities trading organisation. The successful candidate will work on the enhancement, integration, and optimisation of trading and risk applications used across front, middle, and back-office functions.
This role is suited to a hands-on engineer with strong technical depth and proven experience working directly within commodities trading environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, enhance, and maintain .NET/C# applications supporting trading, risk, and operational workflows
* Work on system integrations across front-office trading platforms, risk systems, and operational tools
* Collaborate with architects, product owners, and business analysts to deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions
* Support API development, data pipelines, and services used across trading desks
* Troubleshoot and optimise application performance, ensuring stability and scalability
* Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices
* Assist in migrating legacy components into modern .NET frameworks where required
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong commercial experience with C#/.NET development
* Proven background working within a commodities trading company (oil, gas, power, metals, or similar)
* Deep understanding of trade lifecycle, PnL, risk, and market data flows
* Experience integrating trading or risk platforms with downstream systems
* Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases
* Solid understanding of messaging, APIs, and service-based architectures
* Ability to deliver clean, maintainable, and well-tested code within deadlines
* Strong communication skills and confidence working closely with front-office and technology stakeholders
Desirable Skills
* Exposure to cloud environments (AWS or Azure)
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling
* Familiarity with pricing, analytics, or risk engines
* Knowledge of event-driven architectures or microservices
