Responsibilities
In your role you will be expected to provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors, whilst fulfilling all necessary reception, clerical, and administrative tasks receiving and admitting patients to the Endoscopy Unit using Medway and Solus and dealing with patient queries both over the telephone and in person in an efficient and professional manner. Your role will require that you maintain an efficient and friendly service to patients, relatives and visitors and to liaise with staff within the Endoscopy Unit and staff in other departments and wards, undertake and support the administrative function within the Endoscopy unit as required which will require you to work some Saturday shifts on a rota basis. You will open and close the unit, log maintenance calls and always be courteous and considerate. We work together, and in conjunction with MSE Health and Care Partnership, to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients in a compassionate way, and provide a respectful, but vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers. We are looking to appoint a cheerful, motivated and ambitious person to join our Endoscopy Reception at Southend Hospital for a full time role involving some evening and Saturday working so a flexible approach to working hours and duties would be essential. This is a busy reception and provides a focal point for receiving patients, visitors, and staff where you will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way, but be able to multi task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions and possess excellent communication skills. No specific qualifications are required as full training will be given; however, you should have good keyboard skills and previous experience in a healthcare setting would be an advantage.
