Job Title: Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo)

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced SENCo to join our friendly and inclusive primary school in Southend-on-Sea. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic professional who is committed to ensuring that all pupils, regardless of their needs, achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and managing SEND provision across the school, working closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to provide high-quality support for pupils with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Develop, implement, and review SEND policies and procedures in line with statutory requirements
Coordinate and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) / Support Plans
Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure effective differentiation and inclusive practice
Liaise with parents/carers, external professionals, and local authority services
Maintain accurate SEND records and ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
Support staff through training, guidance, and coaching to improve SEND outcomes
Contribute to the school's strategic development as part of the leadership team (if applicable)The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or willingness to complete it within the required timeframe
Experience working with children with SEND in a primary school setting
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
