Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Wareham
Salary: £ - £ per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate or September 2025
Contract: Full time/Permanent

GSL Education are looking for a caring and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing and inclusive school setting in Wareham. This is a fulfilling opportunity to play a key role in helping students with additional needs thrive both academically and personally.
About the School: The school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills, and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.
Responsibilities:
* Support students aged 16 to 25+ with special educational needs during classroom and outdoor vocational activities.
* Assist teaching staff in delivering lessons focused on practical skills such as horticulture, agriculture, equine care, and animal husbandry.
* Provide tailored one-to-one or small group support to help students access the curriculum and reach personal learning goals.
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and independence in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
* Help with the preparation and maintenance of learning materials, tools, and outdoor facilities to ensure a safe and effective learning space.
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to implement personalised education and care plans.
Requirements:
* Experience supporting young people or adults with special educational needs in an educational or care setting.
* An interest in or willingness to engage with vocational activities such as horticulture, agriculture, equine skills, and animal care.
* The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions across a large countryside campus.
* Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
* Ideally need a valid driving license and be willing to drive.
* A patient, adaptable, and proactive attitude with a commitment to helping learners develop independence and life skills.
* An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
