 
        
        Join Element, we are looking for a Facilities and Maintenance Engineer. Provide engineering support to the Hitchin site across multiple departments to ensure business continuity. This role will be working closely with management and with the laboratory technical staff to ensure that plant, machinery and test rigs are operational allowing internal departments to achieve operational and financial targets.
Key Responsibilities
 * Perform routine inspections, servicing, repairs, and replacements of equipment and facilities on the site.
 * Install new equipment across the site where required.
 * Participate in the development of current and future equipment.
 * Fault find and repair equipment.
 * Attend department meetings and provide feedback on outstanding repairs and maintenance.
 * Provide technical input during SHE and Quality investigations.
 * Operate within SHE and Quality management system.
 * Provide technical input to SHE and Quality procedures.
 * Design, detail and build test rigs, fixtures and instrumentation for test laboratories.
 * Provide training and support documentation for newly designed equipment.
 * Integrate new equipment with existing assets, including mechanical and electrical components and necessary programming.
 * Lead and assign the work of others when needed.
 * Provide input to staff training plans and competence reviews.
 * Prepare material or conduct staff training when required.
Required Qualifications
 * Educated in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or similar.
 * Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field.
 * Significant experience working with hydraulic and mechanical machines.
 * Understanding of various instrumentation types (pressure, flow, temperature).
 * Low voltage AC and DC circuits and basic electronics.
 * Experience using CAD software.
 * Working knowledge of laboratory safety.
 * Ability to understand and implement standard procedures.
 * Ability to troubleshoot issues with equipment or facilities.
Desired Qualifications
 * IOSH / NEBOSH certification.
 * Experience in designing test rigs and instrumentation.
 * Ability to decide on and implement appropriate design methods and protocols.
