Engineer
Location: Canterbury, Kent
Hours: 2 days off a week which are usually Friday and Saturday OR Saturday and Sunday
Must have own PPE (safety boots, the rest is most supplied - hi vis, hair nets are worn by everyone)

Reports to: Head of Maintenance / Senior Engineer
Pay Rate: Starting at £13.43 an hour + OT rate of £16.79 an hour
Purpose of the Role
To maintain and optimise machinery and equipment across the site to minimise downtime, support production efficiency, and ensure compliance with high-quality and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain machinery and equipment to high hygienic and operational standards.
- Complete all preventative and reactive maintenance tasks according to schedules.
- Ensure all required documentation is completed and returned within set timeframes.
- Log all jobs on the computer system with accurate details and send end‑of‑shift handover emails.
- Report any defects or issues to the Head of Maintenance, Senior Engineer, or Packhouse Operations Manager.
- Maintain the Maintenance Workshop to BRC and customer audit standards.
- Ensure all work areas within the Packhouse are safely cordoned off during engineering tasks.
- Work collaboratively as part of the engineering team, providing flexibility and cover when required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Excellent attention to detail
- Previous maintenance experience
- Computer literate
- Awareness of food safety requirements
Desirable
- Experience working with packing machines and graders
- Background in fresh‑produce or food manufacturing environments
