Financial Controller – FMCG Manufacturing
South Yorkshire
On-site
I’m working with a well-established FMCG manufacturer in South Yorkshire to appoint a senior Financial Controller with responsibility for manufacturing and site performance. This is a pivotal leadership role, offering the opportunity to influence both day-to-day operations and longer-term strategic outcomes.
As part of the Site Leadership Team, you’ll work closely with the Plant Manager and senior operational colleagues. Your remit will span operational finance, financial governance, reporting, and capability development, while supporting a collaborative and high-performing culture. The site employs around 180 colleagues and operates at substantial annual turnover, so commercial acumen and hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading the full financial planning cycle, including budgeting, forecasting, overheads, logistics, capital, and product costing.
* Overseeing financial reporting, KPIs, inventory management, and financial controls.
* Managing capital investment projects from appraisal through implementation and post-investment review.
* Translating financial data into actionable insights to support operational decision-making and unlock performance.
* Coaching and developing the site finance team, including line management of a Finance Accountant across multiple locations.
* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, embedding modern ways of working, and contributing to ERP system implementation.
This role is ideal for a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with extensive experience in manufacturing finance. Strong knowledge of BOMs, variances, product costing, and operational finance is essential, alongside the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels. Experience within FMCG or high-volume manufacturing, combined with ERP and advanced Excel skills, will be highly valued.
The organisation offers a competitive package including car allowance, annual bonus, healthcare support, pension matching, and access to a comprehensive benefits platform. More importantly, you will join a collaborative, people-focused culture where finance is a trusted strategic partner to the business.
