NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this post consist of 37 hours per week
We are excited to offer this new senior post, suitable for an experienced midwife or gynaecology nurse, to lead the next exciting phase of our NHS GGC Early pregnancy assessment service.
Currently NHS GGC provides early pregnancy advice and care across five maternity units, including our two community maternity units in Inverclyde and Vale of Leven. The services cover office hours, with one site providing weekend services for the whole of GGC. The EPAS service receives around 150 calls a day, then providing around 16,000 appointments each year – around 40-45 a day.
Currently the management of the EPAS service and teams is split between the Senior charge midwives in each unit – it is generally part of the role of the SCM with responsibility for Triage and daycare.
The postholder will:
* manage all staff working in EPAS (WTE midwives and midwife sonographers)
* manage the centralised maternity telephone triage hub team (c13 WTE midwives)
* lead the implementation of the Scottish Government miscarriage framework, supported by an MDT SLWG.
* Lead the reorganisation of the EPAS service to ensure the greatest efficiency and highest quality care. This will include the development of clear pathways of care for all women experiencing a loss or threatened loss and providing them with prompt advise and care 24/7.
The postholder will be managed by the Lead Nurse for Gynaecology.
This is a full time permanent post. We will consider job share applicants. The postholder can be based at either PRM, QEUH or RAH, their role will cover all parts of the GGC service.
