Company Description Xeinadin was established in 2019 when a number of leading business advisory and accountancy practices across the UK and Ireland came together to re-imagine the future of accountancy. Our collective mission to provide locally forged, trusted business advice to SMEs through forward-thinking, close-knit relationships remains pivotal to our growth. It\'s our people who drive our business forward, and we offer them future-focused career opportunities whilst supporting individual specialisms. Our regional offices of over 3000 colleagues operate collaboratively, combining collective expertise to maximise potential.
Description We are now seeking a Senior Manager to join our expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a VAT professional who values meaningful client relationships, prioritises and invests in engagement with clients, and has a strong technical grounding in indirect tax from a tax advisory perspective.
You will play a key role in managing a portfolio of valued clients, maintaining trusted relationships, and delivering proactive VAT advice that reflects both technical expertise and an understanding of clients’ real-world challenges. The role also provides scope to contribute to business development initiatives, mentoring junior colleagues, and helping grow the firm’s VAT profile.
Key Responsibilities Build strong, long-term client relationships founded on trust, responsiveness, and technical excellence.
Deliver comprehensive VAT reviews and advisory services, including advice on complex areas such as:
Partial exemption and non-business apportionment methods, including undertaking and reviewing annual adjustments.
VAT return reviews and analysis and advice on VAT liability of income streams and activities.
Property transactions and capital projects.
Support clients through HMRC interactions, including error corrections, PESM method applications, and HMRC inspections.
Support the VAT team’s growth by identifying new advisory opportunities with existing clients and sector networking.
Participate in tenders, proposals, and client presentations.
Demonstrate commercial awareness and the ability to identify where additional support or insight can add value to clients.
Collaborate closely with colleagues across tax, audit, and corporate finance teams to provide a seamless, joined-up service.
Help shape and embed best practices in VAT compliance, reporting, and advisory processes within the firm.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of VAT legislation, case law, and HMRC practice and policy, applying it appropriately across a diverse client base.
Assist in the preparation and review of technical reports, briefings, and internal updates for the VAT team and wider firm.
Undertake technical research to resolve complex VAT queries and support senior staff on significant advisory projects.
Key Requirements Excellent technical experience in VAT, ideally gained within a professional services, consultancy, or in-house advisory setting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex legislation into practical, client-friendly advice.
Track record of building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
Commercially astute, with a proactive mindset and client-focused approach.
Additional Requirements HMRC experience or CTA, ATT, or equivalent professional qualification (or working towards one).
Experience in liaising with HMRC on technical matters and partial exemption method applications.
Experience in preparing client training or delivering workshops.
Exposure to VAT issues in specialist areas such as property, construction, travel, non for profit, education or healthcare.
Professional, approachable, and credible with clients and colleagues alike.
Curious and committed to continuous learning and professional development.
