Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Manage patient caseloads as an autonomous practitioner in relevant sub-specialty clinics, making treatment decisions such as prescribing eye medications, listing for cataract surgery, and referring to subspecialty clinics. These include Pre- and Post-operative cataract management, Glaucoma services, Eye Casualty/Triage, Corneal and Medical Retina clinics.
* Provide core optometric services, including refraction (routine, diagnostic, paediatric), specialist contact lens management, visual impairment rehabilitation, and spectacle dispensing. Saturday morning working in Eye Casualty triage will be required.
* Collaborate with the Principal and Lead Optometrists to deliver high-quality optometric services and advanced clinics.
* Promote best practices and offer expert advice on complex case management to Optometrists, Medical staff, and Allied Health Professionals.
* Oversee training and undertake specialist clinical activities, such as foreign body removal from the cornea.
* Apply advanced clinical techniques like corneal pachymetry, ocular B-scan, and corneal topography for specialist interpretation.
* Participate in departmental audits and assist in implementing improvements.
