About the Role:
We are supporting a Shrewsbury School is seeking a dynamic and passionate Food Technology Teacher to join their thriving Design & Technology department on a full-time, long-term basis.
They are hoping to secure the right candidate starting 30th June 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate students in a forward-thinking and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and innovative lessons in Food Preparation and Nutrition across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will play a key role in developing students’ practical skills, nutritional understanding, and love for culinary arts.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons that cater to the needs of all learners.
* Support students in developing practical food skills and theoretical understanding of nutrition and food science.
* Maintain high standards of health, safety, and hygiene in the classroom and kitchen environment.
* Assess, monitor and report on student progress in line with school policies.
* Contribute to curriculum development and extracurricular activities related to food and nutrition.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the wider school community.
Essential:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* A degree or relevant qualification in Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related subject.
* Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level.
* Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to high standards.
* Passion for food education and the ability to inspire young people.
Desirable:
* Experience teaching at GCSE
* Familiarity with current food and health education policies.
* Willingness to engage in wider school life, including extracurricular clubs or school events.
