SQL DBA

We are supporting a leading professional services organisation as they hire an SQL DBA to join their growing team. This role focuses on keeping business-critical systems reliable, secure and high performing while supporting colleagues across the wider firm.

What you will be doing
o Ensuring the reliability, security and efficiency of key databases and applications
o Designing and implementing database solutions and integrations
o Developing database-level interfaces, data extracts and bespoke solutions
o Contributing to backup and disaster recovery strategy
o Troubleshooting performance issues using tools such as Query Store and Extended Events
o Managing incidents, requests and third-line support escalations
o Working closely with external suppliers and application vendors
o Supporting data analytics and reporting teams with ETL and transformation work
o Testing application upgrades and documenting processes for wider teams
What you'll bring
o Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (On-Prem), Azure SQL VM, Azure Managed Instance and Azure SQL Database
o Deep understanding of performance tuning, scaling, security and cost optimisation
o Experience with T-SQL, stored procedures, functions and custom integrations
o Hands-on experience with backups, integrity checks and index maintenance
o Familiarity with blocking, caching and wait statistics
o Experience with Extended Events and Query Store
o Bonus: exposure to Power BI datasets, Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric
o Clear communicator and problem solver with a calm, collaborative approach
