Job Overview
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidence-based nursing care for a group of patients.
Assist in and contribute to the management and organisation of a ward/clinical area.
Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing.
Actively participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff.
Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Act as a clinical and professional role model, mentoring, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
The Emergency Department at the Leicester Royal Infirmary is part of the University Hospitals of Leicester and opened in April 2017. It sees around 180,000 to 230,000 patients each year, making it one of the busiest EDs in the NHS.
We employ a range of nursing staff and offer an excellent education programme to provide ongoing development and support.
Applications are invited from experienced registered nurses with 6 months experience. We also provide opportunities for newly registered nurses to develop skills and professional growth.
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, confident and self‑motivated nurses who possess excellent communication skills and enjoy a challenge.
Applicants must enjoy a fast‑paced acute environment and have a keen interest in caring for patients in these acute settings.
In addition to the above, you will be responsible for the following:
* Perform comprehensive assessments of patients’ nursing needs and plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing healthcare needs.
* Take responsibility for the care needs of individuals and groups of patients.
* Collect, collate and fully accurately report patient information, maintaining accurate, complete and contemporaneous nursing records.
* Involve patients and carers/relatives in the planning and delivery of care.
* Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure needs are met in relation to care input, support for ongoing care needs and safe discharge.
* Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers/relatives.
* Recognise, prioritise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
