Role Overview
The post is an inpatient consultant with an additional liaison service for older adults at the Vale of Leven District General Hospital, which has 92 beds and a minor injuries unit. There are no A&E services on site. The position is 3 days per week, 0900‑1700.
Responsibilities
• Treat older adults from the Dumbarton, Helensburgh and Rosneath areas, caring for two acute psychiatric wards (Katrine and Fruin) and supporting community mental health services through the Cairnmhor Resource Centre and the Helensburgh Community Health Team.
• Work alongside five other consultant psychiatrists and four specialty psychiatrists within the West Dunbartonshire and North West Glasgow Division, leading the multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in teaching and training for University of Glasgow medical students, hold trainer status, and contribute to quality improvement and governance of the service.
Qualifications
• Full registration with the General Medical Council, license to practice and eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
• Evidence of higher specialist training leading to a CCT or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR), or be within six months of confirmed entry at interview date.
• Non‑UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Clinical Leadership & Training
• Expected to take part in the Clinical Governance and quality improvement initiatives across the division, and to undertake continuing professional development within GG&C.
On‑call Rota
Expectation to join the North Glasgow on‑call psychiatry rota at least 1:25.
