Job Title: Town Planner
Location: Silsoe, Bedford (with flexible working options)
Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Overview:
A growing planning and development team is seeking a motivated and experienced Town Planner to manage a wide range of planning projects, with values ranging from £250k to £25m. The role involves working closely with in-house designers, external architects, and consultants to deliver high-quality developments across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the planning process for multiple large-scale development projects.

Prepare, review, and approve detailed planning reports and documentation.

Provide strategic planning advice to clients and internal teams.
*
Lead engagement at planning committees, stakeholder meetings, and public consultations.
*
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective project delivery.
*
Oversee planning application submissions, including pre-app discussions and post-decision work.
*
Draft planning policy documents and conduct feasibility assessments.
*
Use GIS and other planning tools to assess site suitability and support strategic decisions.
*
Monitor the status of planning applications, appeals, and enforcement cases.
*
Provide guidance on planning conditions, variations, and compliance through RIBA Stages 1–6.
*
Promote continuous improvement and innovation within the planning function.
Qualifications & Experience:

Degree in Geography, Urban Planning, or related discipline (2:1 or above).
*
3–4 years of experience in a planning role (preferably within consultancy or developer settings).
*
Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or working toward chartership (preferred).
*
Strong project management skills with proven ability to deliver complex applications.
*
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits across the UK.
