This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. A core component of this role involves continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Collaborate with medics/HSEAs and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required monitoring or surveillance programs.
2. Implement occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic risks, including but not limited to:
* Management of hazardous substances and COSHH risk assessments
* Chemical exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, solvents, welding fumes, toxic gases)
* Asbestos management and surveys
* Noise and vibration management and assessments
* Radiation management and assessments
* Thermal hazard assessments
* Potable water management
* Communicable diseases, mould, animal/insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
• Develop and recommend control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures, including LEV/PPE/RPE testing and inspections.
• Deliver occupational hygiene training, such as asbestos awareness and PPE use.
• Conduct inspections and audits across operational sites, including accommodation, welfare, and food areas, to ensure standards are met.
• Maintain calibration systems for hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene.
* At least 2 years of experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
* Strong drive and ability to promote occupational health throughout the organization.
* Excellent communication skills for presentations and reporting.
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
